Dear Alumni,
The Boys and Girls Clubs of America have had an incredible impact on the youth of this country for well over 100 years. In Weld County, we too have had our sucesses. There are so many members of our community that are former club kids, and we want to hear from you. If you are a former club kid, please let us know so that we can create a recognition list of inspiring adults. You may be a club kid from another state or county, but if you live in Weld County, we would like to recognize you!
Please let us know who and where you are, contact us today.
Denzel Washington - Club Alumni Denzel Washington, a former club kid, told inspiring stories from people who have themselves been shaped by mentors in their lives. In A Hand To Guide Me, by Denzel, he recounts how the Boys and Girls Club changed his life path. “In my neighborhood the Boys Club was the center of everything. It was my whole world, just about, from the time I was 6 years old. It was where I learned how to play ball, where I learned how to focus and set my mind on a goal, where I learned about consequences, where I learned how to be a man….The Boys Club, that’s where I looked for hope and purpose and direction. That’s where I learned to dream— to think big…” This is an excerpt from his text, which was on the New York Times best seller list. Thank you Denzel for telling the world how important the Clubs are for the boys and girls of communities. ![]() |
