Where Calm Leads to Confidence

Sometimes our members just need a place to chill — and our Family Support Services (FSS) team works intentionally every day to make those moments possible.
From supporting youth one-on-one to helping staff build trauma-informed skills that empower young people during challenging moments, our FSS team helps create environments where Club members feel safe, supported, and ready to grow.
One exciting example of this work is a new initiative happening across all six of our Club locations: the creation of Zen Rooms, Calming Rooms, and even mobile Calming Carts — names proudly chosen by our youth themselves!
These calming spaces are thoughtfully designed to help youth reset, recharge, and return stronger. They reflect our belief that emotional well-being is foundational to youth success. In these spaces, young people can build coping skills, strengthen self-awareness, and practice healthy ways to manage stress.

Each location includes tools that support healthy resets. Members may choose weighted blankets, sensory items, grounding visuals, soft lighting, breathing guides, or quiet seating to calm their bodies and organize their thoughts before rejoining their peers.
Equally important, our staff are trained to guide youth through these moments — helping them recognize what they’re feeling, choose a strategy, and confidently return to activities. We’re already seeing members request these spaces independently, use tools proactively, and navigate big feelings with growing confidence!
This initiative is part of our broader commitment to integrating trauma-informed mental health supports into everyday Club culture. By strengthening emotional safety and practicing regulation skills in real time, youth are developing tools they can carry beyond our walls — into school, home, and community.
